(BTEC)

What is Business Studies BTEC?

Business BTEC Extended Certificate is a Level 3 Qualification equivalent to one A-Level. It is designed for students who are interested in learning about the business sector. You will learn lots of skills such as personal organisation, producing reports, and preparing presentations. You will also have the opportunity to use your initiative and be creative. This course is ideal for a student who enjoys working in teams, leading a team, and debating issues.

What will I learn?

  • Exploring Business (25%) – assessed via three pieces of coursework in the format of business reports and a presentation.

  • Marketing (25%) – assessed via a controlled assessment over a number of lessons.

  • Finance (33%) – assessed via an external exam.

  • Work experience (17%) – students will complete 40 hours of work experience, and complete coursework tasks relating to this, including preparing for and reflecting on the placement.

  • Trips – students who take this course will go on a variety of trips to businesses to get hands-on experience.

5 GCSE grades 9-4, including a grade 4 in both English Language and Maths

Where can Business Studies BTEC take me?

Understanding how businesses work is particularly useful as most students will end up working for, or running their own, business at some point in their lives. Students can go on to study business-related degrees at university and then go onto jobs in fields such as business development, marketing, HR, recruitment, banking, and industrial relations.
